SEEDLINGS FOR THE HOUSE GARDEN
Course Leader: Anna Heijkoop
Part 1: Propagating Your Own Seedlings
So, you have your own garden and want to grow vegetables with homegrown seedlings. Whether you are a beginning gardener or if you have bought your seedlings in the past and now would like to make the switch to growing your own, this is the workshop for you!
In this workshop you will learn the fundamentals of and proper conditions for growing your own vegetable seedlings. This workshop is oriented towards the private home or urban gardener. We know from experience that conditions for growing seedlings are often not optimal in the private home and will show very practical methods that you can easily and inexpensively try out in your garden.
You will immediately implement and apply what you have learned with seeds for seedlings, appropriate for the season.
Part 2: Thinning and Transplanting Seedlings
In this workshop we will first briefly review the basics from the first workshop.
Then you will learn more about thinning out germinated seedlings and practice in the field so you can use this skill with confidence. You will learn the basics of transplanting individual seedlings in the garden. Finally, you will have the chance to tour the home garden where you are visiting, and to ask all your unanswered questions at your convenience.
You will take home seedlings and a small starter kit at the end of the workshop, in addition to newly learned skills and inspiration for the coming season.
