Course Description

There are many benefits to preserving seasonal foods. Not only are we reducing food waste by preserving foods at the height of their abundance, but we are also storing them at their peak nutrition. Our stored harvest then provides us with healthy vitamin-rich foods for the winter season.

Even if you do not have your own garden, seasonal fruits and vegetables can be found at farmer's markets, at local farms and even in the grocery store.

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of how to safely prepare and preserve fruits and vegetables for long-term storage. You will also have the chance to gain some hands-on experience as we prepare a few easy recipes together.

Each participant will recieve a handout for reference at home, recipes to try and some delicious canned foods to enjoy at home from our work together.
